DUNSDEN GREEN

Dunsden Green (also known as just Dunsden) is a small village centred on the large and attractive village green. A little way out of the village is the parish church, All Saints, which was built in 1842. All Saints served as a “chapel-of-ease” by clergy from Sonning until the first vicar (previously a curate at Sonning) was appointed in 1876.

Wilfred Owen, the WWI war poet, was lay assistant to the Vicar of All Saints from 1911–13, and his parents and sister are buried in the churchyard.

On the green is the village war memorial and a 19th century well which was provided for the use of villagers by a local benefactor.

Dunsden Green is the home of the Loddon Brewery, a family run company which was founded in 2002 and commenced brewing in July 2003. The brewery currently brews a range of seven beers which are available from the brewery shop and supermarkets and pubs throughout the Thames Valley.

Dunsden Green is about 4 miles north-east of Reading, three quarters of a mile north of the A4155.
