Little Faringdon
Stretching for a quarter of a mile along a lane very close to the county border with Gloucestershire is the small village of Little Faringdon. A handful of large house, a row of more modest ones, a large farm, the manor house (hidden fom view from the road), and the church, and that's Little Faringdon!
The church is dedicated to St. Margaret of England and dates from the 12th century. It has Norman lancet windows in the chancel. In about 1200 the church was enlarged with the addition of a north aisle. For the history and full information about St.
Margaret's Church click here.
The manor house is Little Faringdon House and parts of it date from the 17th century. Substantial additions and alterations were made around 1830.
Little Faringdon is about 1 mile north of Lechlade along the A361 Lechlade to Burford road.
