GREAT MILTON
Great Milton spreads out along three roads that meet at a small triangular green which now forms the centre of the village, although it is likely that in the Middle Ages the main part of the village was in the area nearest the manor house and the village church on the south side of the village.
The Church is dedicated to St. Mary the Virgin. The nave and chancel of St. Mary's were built shortly after the Norman Conquest. The church was damaged by fire in the 13th century. During the 14th century the chancel was enlarged and the north and south aisles were added. The west tower dates from the 15th century. Great Milton is approximately 10 miles south-east of Oxford just off the A329 and about a mile and a half from junction 7 of the M40. |
