MOULSFORD
Moulsford
is a small Thames-side village on one of the prettiest stretches of the
River Thames opposite the village of South Stoke.
The
parish church is the small Church of St. John the Baptist
which was almost completely rebuilt in the early 19th
century on the old foundations of the original early 13th
century church. All that remaines of the original building
is the west wall with its lancet window. For the history and full information about the Church of St. John the Baptist click here.
To the south of the village, on the site of the old ferry
service to South Stoke on
the opposite side of the river, is the former waterfront
inn known as the Beetle and Wedge.
The village is also home to a successful independant day
school, Cranford House, which comprises a nursery and
lower school, junier school and senior school and caters
for girls betweenthe ages of 3 and 16 and boys between
3 and 7.
Some scenes from the popular TV series Midsomer Murders have been filmed in the village of moulsford.
